I should have researched a bit better. I've just been over there. The Homestead Park is tents only, adults only, but super location.
The Lower Milton site is very hilly, and quite boggy at the moment. It's a Caravan and Camping Club site, couldn't see any facilities, could be in the farmhouse. Haybridge is probably the better choice, certainly for Bongos. All three seem to be open.

At Gerry Cottle's place, there are big signs saying no overnight camping, but no barriers. It seems that you can drive through a gate onto a park area, there looks to be a flat parking spot just on the bank of the stream, just opposite the Homestead. It all looks very nice. Shame about the no overnights.

Now all I need to do is confirm this with the boss (kerry) tonight and I'm away with the mixer.
=D> OK, in case anyone else is interested, Kerry and I have now booked our pitch for the Saturday night at this site  http://www.haybridgepark.co.uk .
Our idea been, if the weather is dry [-o< to set up camp at the site and then wander into Wells approx 15/20 walk to check out the place and the Saturday market, and who knows possibly an ale house or two if we get thirsty
Saturday night > go with the flow (carry out or pub meal) whatever !
Obviously on the Sunday morning we will knock up the obligatory Full English and a cup of tea, and then drive 5 mins up the road to join all the bongo peeps at Wookey Caves for 11.00 am. 8)
Anyone else wishing to join us feel free, just remember to pre book your pitch and caves tickets to get them at the best price :P

Just been round to the Haybridge site a few mins ago. Small but very clean toilet block, very small site at the moment, but they are busily expanding, putting in services on a new field. Looks quite good though. Friendly campers, got chatting with them, all at present fairly large caravans as you'd expect at this time of year.

Pubs/food in Wells. There's an Ask in the market square, never been myself. The Crown, a stylish olde worlde pub, with a good Bistro called Anton's. The Old Jail House at the City Arms is quite good. Actually there are loads of eating places, just wander round and take your pick, though it does get busy Saturday nights. If it was Anton's, I'd book. Cafe Romna for expensive indian cuisine. For lunchtime eats you cannot do better than the restaurant at the Cathedral, it's just changed its name so cannot tell you, but you can't miss it. The quiche is great, good food in general. I might have to do a recce, in the interests of research, of course, of the pubs.

The local chippy will deliver anything you want to your van door.(Haybridge camp site). The owner Jason, will give anyone who wants it their phone number on arrival. Jason was very helpful when I stayed at this site, even wired up my electrics. Found the loo/shower block a bit chilly but the showers were hot. Nice site.

:D I have just spoken to Jason again this morning and he is aware he may get a few others from the Bongo club giving him a ring, If you do want to book with him mention you are with the club and he will try to place us together on the site. He has told me he is limited for spaces so it will be first come first served. Jasons contact No. is 01749 676869 Good Luck.
