I took it you were banging your head off the wall several times because you were unsure of the reason - that's why I posted a (what I thought was) a helpful reply.

Getting a bit p'd off of being treated like a naughty schoolboy by you TGP so I'm out of this topic now.

OK. Lets have some useful info from you, we all are now 100% certain that your bloody bottom hose is bloody cold all the bloody time. Now where the bloody hell is your bloody thermostat? Is it back as normal or still on the output from the head?

You want answers, read the posts since, it's all there, and a lot more. The info won't relate directly to your bongo of course because you have changed the cooling path and it is working differently. But you could probably work out why your bottom hose is cold and everyone elses is warm if you bothered to read the posts.
Info on how the cooling circulates around yours would be interesting and it could be useful. For example, if your stat is closed there must be a much higher flow in the heaters as you have effectively not only blocked off the radiator but the header tank too. Blocking of paths will raise pressures.
But we have no useful info from you and you do not enter into the discussions other than with silly put downs.

NOW, NOW, boys and girls, can we please forget the last few posts, and get back on to the seriously interesting coolant subject. It was going so well. All that will happen is, this thread will get locked aswell.

I have not contributed to the thread, as such, but there are others who are putting a lot of time, effort, and money into it. Lets not waste it all, please.

Well said brorabongo. I think it's harder to discuss tricky issues on a forum, than 'face to face', because we can't see each others expressions. If we could, we'd know that we're probably all singing from the same song sheet, trying to get to the bottom of something. If we were all standing around the engine, with a few beers (or wine/coffee/tea!) it'd be much easier, with less risk of misunderstanding or upsets.

Hmmmmmmmm - this thread looks as though its run its course.

As it happens I don’t think that I can contribute much more at the moment. The diagram is going to take me a while to bring up to the level I’m going to be happy with and as I said earlier I intend to experiment further with my differential temperature measurements and ECU sensor measurements.
My objective is to try and find a way of showing that the stat does actually work and that the cooling fans operate in a logical manor. The ultimate aim is to understand how the cooling system operates in a dynamic situation and by this understand if there are any weak points that need monitoring to prevent the dreaded overheating.

I think that is everybody’s contribution has been helpful at one time or another in this thread.

When I’ve got something useful to add I’ll come back but I expect it to take quite a while to experiment over a period of time to get meaningful data.

This has been a fascinating thread & I think we've all learned lots of stuff as result. As Doone has pointed out, a 'face to face' discussion may be a more productive way to get to the definitive answer on how it all works. For those of us going to to the Bongo Bash in June, why don't we organise a session where we can review people's observations & report back with our findings?

That's an excellent idea Simon. I'll add it to the list of activities.
