Hi all,
Looking forward to getting together with other kitebongopeople. Live on the Wirral.Green and sliver Bongo with roof bars. Kitesurfing at Harrison drive in New Brigton. Started lessons last year at North Wales Kitesurf, from Kimmel Bay. Still at the earley stages of kitesurfig. I have a 9m 08Atom . Just got up this summer. Struggling to met up with other kiters who are willing to lookout for a newbi. There are lots of good kite beaches in the North West. Ex windsurfer for many years, had to learn kitesurfing. I have not been to Ansdale beach, it sound a bit restricted. I belive the beach access should be free. Have been concidering a dry suit. Any one who can advise, keen to hear and meet up soon. Very bad cabin fever at present.
chat soon

Hey Ray

I'm a NW based kiter, new shape bongo, white over silver. Also a 20+ yr windsurfer (still do but only when wind 20+ knots). Getting the hang of kiting now but know what it's like starting so happy to help out where i can. Personally, i don't think a drysuit's the way to go, i was out last week with a 5/3 wetsuit, body temp no problem, only freezing hands restricted my time on the water.

I'm based Cleveleys so sail there, Fleetwood, Blackpool and St.Annes mostly depending on conditions. During summer i like to throw the kit in the bongo and venture further afield sleeping over, Rhosneigr's may fave spot.

I'll keep an eye out for you.

Rich

Hi Rich
Good to hear from a fellow kitebongonought. Thanks for your positive encouragement. Your feedback on the dry suit is appreciated. I can’t handle the cold as well as I use to. Rhosneigr was my fav spot when I was a mad windsurfer. It should be easy to spot your cool white Bongo Rich when I venture out.

Right then, this meet is gonna happen. If there is any bongoliers out there watching this thread and thinking,"I would love to try that!" or " I would love to try something new!"Then let us know. I have 3 buggys and i think Dreamwarrioruk has more than one. I will bet that between the two of us we can get anyone between the ages of 15 and 50 up and running on a buggy in three days easy. Let us know if you are interested and i will ask Mike(Dreamwarrioruk) if he is up for it too.
Bring it on

As long as I am not sitting in one of the 3 that sounds good  .
I have made a front axle bracket to mount to the tow point on my libre - only tried it out for a bit in dying winds and it seemed like I would need a lot more power than usual even though it was only my son on the back - what sort of speeds can you get on a tandem mike?

there is a full list of top speeds on popeye the welders webpage ed
i havnt confirmed it with gps but me and mrs waycar8 were doing around 25mph at bolton le sands last year with a 2.5m bullet. have had experience flying tandem with 2 kites but you all need to know how to fly intuitively to avoid tangles.
its good fun.

heres an extract on tandem speed

Buggy Towing Buggy One Kite
61.48kmh/38.20mph Verified Chris.S & Tessa (England)
56.33kmh/35.00mph Verified Chris.S & Aby (England)
50.53kmh/31.40mph Verified Rocky & Aidenator (England)

Buggy Towing Buggy Two Kites
84.20kmh/52.32mph Verified Jan (H83) & Peter BBking (H82) (Holland)

The Tandem Story:

The record for the tandem was set on Les Hemmes (FR).
I (H83) sat in the front and BBking (H82) sat in the back. The kite's we used where a PKD Joy 4.0m2 and a 3.0m2, winds where around 30-35 knots.
It was the first serious test-run in high winds and we both flew a little overpowered, we had to stay very focused, any errors could result in an unwanted eject. The first to runs felt good and safe, and speeds ran into the 40 MPH, so on the third run I shouted at Peet: "..no holding back..!!" and the record was set: 84.2 km/h - 52.33 MPH. it was a adrenaline-rush to the max!!

Buggy Towing Buggy towing Buggy Three Kites

70.20kmh/43.62mph verified Jan (H83), Peter (H82) & Dirk (B1127) (Holland)

The Tridem Story:

This record was also set on Les Hemmes (FR)
Me (H83), Peter (H82) and Dirk (B1127) were the ones to fly.
kite's from PKD, the Joy 4.0m2, 3.0m2, 3.0m2 where used, winds were up to 25-30 knots.
After a little cruising an trying we just tried to get faster and faster, but the wind-speed got less and one of the tires slowly ran flat, so the speedometer stopped at 70.2 km/h - 43.62 MPH, on the way back to the base-camp Dirk ejected forward out of the third buggy an got ran over by it, to bad we couldn't take a picture of his wetsuit with the wet and muddy tire-track over his chest, better luck next time. Dont mention pablo to me - I was going as fast as I could with a 10m access last weekend, and I was keeping up with him..........The only fly in the ointment was he was alternating between fowards and backwards with multiple 360's throwm in (I counted 4 in a row at one stage, and he is in a libre full race  ). One day I will be OK.

Yippeee!!!! got my first bongo last week, am actually windsurfer/surfer/wakeboarder ... my nearest beaches are Colwell and Compton on the good ole Isle of Wight but def looking to escape the Island and play somewhere else! (although would say the Island has a beach for EVERY wind direction and if you can't sail or surf you can always mountain bike ....)
