It would be interesting to know how many milli amps are going into the coolant.

Hi there sorry bout late reply, been a mental day n all that. Dont worry haydn not one of yours but if this fails to work properly then i'll be getting back to you for prices

however g8dheis correct with that diagram thats the exact one i have, screw is 100mm (its a big one) i had a reply from the seller amazingly and he asked me if i had hit a baffle as it would weaken the resisance, i wasnt sure at first but after checking i can confirm i pretty much went straight down one

now the weird part was it works fine until the screw is about half way down then it gets quieter and a few more turns it shuts off. Unfortunately i have already went in with another screw

(not on baffle this tim) and if that doesnt fix it, well i have 3 holes in the header. but if it does great. next step will be the haydn appoach i think if it doesnt solve it aaaaand probably a new header cos mine will be as much use as swiss cheese for holding water.
Cheers for the responses, i'll be finding out tomorrow as i didnt trust that cheap new thermostat i fitted yesterday and will be fitteing genuine mazda one tomorrow. (it just arrived today) I will get back with results and probably directly to hadyn

Donβt understand.....the alarm is ment to sound and stop sounding when the tip of the screw hits the coolant.

Why is nothing ever simple. I suppose it is "w@nk Wednesday" I bet it works tomorrow, and if not, at least it's "Thirsty Thurs". Ha ha

funny stuff, i know the alarm works but we will see tomorrow if the (not hitting the baffles) soloution works, by the way bill i think either you should use a shorter screw side entry at the low line with the other screw bout 2cm below or when you look at the top of the tank you'll see square sections, thats the baffles, if you do use the big one(screw) then avoid them but on this next tank if my alarm still fails to work properly i think i'll not bother chancing it and get one of yours haydn.
we'll find out tomorrow eh?

also billy i noticed in the diagram that the screw is flat at the bottom, watch out cos my big one was tapered and split the spacer, if yours is also tapered then i would use a washer to stop that from happening

otherwise

Hi all, to my complete amazement after changing the thermostat for the genuine mazda one, the alarm after the repositioning works great

I actually cant beleive that a baffle cause a lack in resistance, and i checked the bottom of the tank too haydn, cheers for the tips once again.
Just the steering fluid to do when the pela pump arrives, then i shall turn my attention to upgrades
