Not seen the light lol! This one is a dooer upper as NB said.

Only had it 5 mins and it's causing me a problem already.
I just want some info so I can suggest a fix to the garage as I don't want to take it with low oil pressure.
I need him to put a pressure gauge on to actually see if the oil pressure is low. If it's not that surely points to switch or wiring as suggested.
If it has no pressure, I need to know why, a colleague said it could point to a worn rocker shaft but surely that would have put the light on before as well. Which may suggest something done at the garage.

ive had several bad oil filters, try swapping it for a good quality one, a mahle or something german is usually a good start. 10w is a little thick for this time of year too but shouldnt put the light on.

He has tried refitting the old filter which still put the light on. He is going to check the pressure with a gauge tomorrow. We'll see what that brings and I'll let you know.
NB do you think it is worth trying another filter still? Have you got a link to a quality one?

I always try to fit Blue Print parts / filters that you have fitted, they are sourced from the same manufactures as the factory ..

In fact I have had Blue Print Toyota parts, that have the Toyota logo and part numbers stamped on ..

Yes Mike it was a blue print filter fitted which I always thought were good quality bits.

Over the years I've tried a lot of different filters, and Bosch filters and Mann filters come tops, and one Japanese. I keep the labels in the Bongo if you want the numbers. I've tried different oils, and the top is Elf 10-40 semi synth.
I "listen" to the engine for noise over the service interval, and some oils / filters get a little clattery before or at the service interval, however, my standard is a bit different...Tony doesn't even notice the difference. Also, some filters are marked "Germany" , when , in fact they are made in Turkey!...Germany refers to the country of the company that owns the subsidiary...It's a loophole that skirts round "made in Germany" used when the product is merely finished / polished in Germany, and that loophole was banned. Also, the cheaper filters don't all have a non-return valve which stops the oil in the filter draining back, and that gives a clattery start, and the oil light stays on longer
Blueprint, according to what I read, was a Mazda subsidiary when it started, and it made service items for Mazda . I believe they branched out latterly.

Still on going no pressure checked yet, but I drove it last night and the light goes on after start up but comes on when warmed up, goes back off when cooled down.

Sorry if I have missed this, but have you tried a known working switch while you are waiting for a pressure test,? These switches are quite common to various vehicles/engines.(it will probably be the same type as fitted to your petrol vehicle)

Hi everyone, update!
Currently on start up light stays off till warm 5-10 mins idling, then light comes on and stays on till switched off. When cold light off until warmed up again.

I took an oil pressure tester to the garage tonight and checked the oil pressure.
On start up from cold, gauge was reading 30 psi within 30 seconds when idling.
Still idling, pressure increased to about 60 psi within a few minutes.
Rev engine approx. 2000 rpm and pressure increased to 68-70 psi.
Increase revs and pressure didn't change much, constant.
Left to idle, and as engine warmed up, pressure started decreasing to 35psi, I assume this is the point the light came on.
Increase rpm and pressure goes to 70 psi again.
I think these figures look pretty normal according to the figures quoted earlier. Engine is quiet for a diesel, no knocking on start up or when running.

Can anyone confirm these figures look good, average or s**t.

I bought an new switch £5.40( Euro Car Parts- same part no. as Renault)and an engine treatment from Wynns(supercharge oil treatment) which stated among many other things, maintains oil pressure at high temperatures for £4.50.
I added the treatment and ran it again to circulate it, pressure readings remained the same, and switched it off when warmed up, fitted the new switch and fired it up again.
Light off and it was still warm.
We then went home as it was getting late.
Hopefully this may have sorted it.
