14v at the ring terminal sound a weeee bit OTT .

If you are getting 14 volts at the screw ( volt meter between screw and earth ) you have a massive problem.
To measure the amps you need to remove the ring terminal from the sensor screw and put the ammeter between the ring terminal and the sensor screw head.

That voltage though if you are doing it right is massive and I suggest you remove the alarm and return it to us to check out........you cannot leave things as they are. Whatever is going on is not good and needs sorting

So this is the voltage. I couldn't get a current reading, it must have been too small?

I don't know what's going on ....must be wired wrong but for peace of mind send it back to be checked out.....

Check the earth connection to the main unit, maybe that has broken and your just seeing the supply voltage via the unit.

To late, I've sent it back for Haydn to see if I've fried anything inside.

Spud350..... Alarm checks out perfectly......it's on its way back......suggest you follow the installation instructions and all should be well.....if it still misbehaves, you have a problem within your Bongo....
If you want to re return it we will buy back.

Spud, it would probably be worthwhile having you cooling system components and coolant checked/examined, if the problem has caused the screws to corrode it might have caused more hidden damage and contamination to the system .

That wouldn't explain the 14 volts which if correct is probably eating away at all sorts of components including the radiator and water pump.

So I've got hold of a piggyback fuse connector which I didn't know existed but anyway after much tinkering this is the result ...



So with any luck the job is a good one. Thanks for all the replies and to Haydn who checked out the alarm for free and sent back a new set of wires and connectors with it.

That's still a bit high, try removing the sensor screw, wire brush and refit....then report back with a reading.

With it all disconnected as before and the meter on the ring terminal and earth it's reading 12.6v. I can't see it getting any closer to 12v myself. Is this Ok as I'm getting the power for it from the dash fuse.

You've now lost me.......you have a photo above reading 2.07 volts.......now you are saying 12.4..

Do not remove the ring terminal from the screw......do it in situ ....you should get 1.8 if all is 100%
