Battery isolators are a good way to stop them driving the bongo away but you really need a good visual deterant too they cause so much damage getting in to your pride and joy which you have to repair even if they carn't drive it away.
Better to have something that makes them think it is not worth even atempting to try and break in.
I have always had alarms or dummy alarms but aswell i have a old heavy bike chain lock looped through the steering wheel with a big enclosed padllock on it so soon as you look in the window you see it. The sort of thing that will damage your kneecaps if you try driving with it in place.

Lots of great ideas - maybe i'll get them all to be on the safe side lol!! I like the idea of the wheel lock or clamp - the thing about the hidden things like the switches is that someone would have already broken in by the time they realise they can't move it? I like the idea of putting them off even laying a hand on it! Hmmm is it legal to electrify the handles?

Well at the moment I have the steering wheel lock and the switch.
I have an LED in the post as well as some cobra stickers.
So a deterrent and id rather a smashed window or even a bent door than a missing bongo!!

How hard is it to instal the battery isolators? Do they require chopping cables and soldering or do they just clip on?

Looking at the one's on this post you cut your battery lead put a couple of ring terminals one on each end a then put the isolater inbetween.
i personaly would solder the ring terminals in to place.

Guys
even with the best alarms and mobilisers they will still attempt it. Busted locks, broken window and removed indicators, they try all the tricks. If you have a dummy alarm (flashing red light) they will try to overcome it thinking its the real thing..The isolator means that they will not get away with your pride and joy. Another good deterent is bright outside lighting, they do not like TWOCing under good lighting in full view. Another one is having a gravel path crunch, crunch crunch ..........Then the dog kicks off! always worked for me. I have a tarmac drive now, can't hear a bloody thing but still have Fido!
Seriously guys we will never stop the most determined piece of sh*te but thats life.

Also as it isolates the Earth lead all you have to do is bypass it by using a using a jump lead between chassis and the -ve Battery post.

All done in a flash under Arc lighting and going equiped! First they would have to know it had a battery isolator fitted unless they just happen to carry jump leads with them anyway when TWOCing as well as the screwdriver ,half tennis ball and a 2ft scaffolding pole.
The reason our vehilces (Bongo's) are attractive is that they are old technology with locks that pull out with a cork screw silently. New vehicles are now so hard to nick they are housebreaking to get the keys.

Several have been stolen by the simple expedient of arriving with a flat-bed truck and craning the Bongo onto it then simply driving off the flat-bed...
