I'll tell you what i did find when replacing the bulb.. The contacts in the holder was shorting, blowing the bulb.. I didn't realize this till the 2nd attempt with an LED which flickered..

So i stripped the contacts out of the holder & soldered the LED into the loom!

My bongo is a 1995 vintage, so no ignition key light, but the blank is there. Daveblueozzie has put an LED in the blank of his similar vintage bongo. Not as sophisticated a set up with courtesy delays etc, but effective nonetheless! The light simply illuminates when the door opens, then extinguishes when the door is closed again. Maybe Dave will post a piccy if he has one. You can't leave a "blank" there with nowt in it!

I put one in mine last year (dark nights) the missus was struggling to get key in~it's a very limited space to get holder in~only one (of the two) courtesy cab bulbs is being used due to fitting a block of led lights in one so i wired the ignition light direct to the other & it works with the courtesy lights as it should.

Nice Ray!

I rather suspect mine will be green though (to match the bodywork)

But then it'll look at odds with the plasma gauges which of course are blue!
