There is a servo and linkages on the passenger side of the heater/A/C module which control the flaps and heating;
The item is G3-10 on the circuit diagrams:

and located here in the Lush projects diagrams.
Might be worth checking that the servo is moving correctly and that the linkages are OK.

I have this problem as well.
Need heat and I put it at 32 degrees, gets too hot, I pop it down to 31.5.
I dont seem to have any levers that need moving.
Going to leave it alone until I get used to all the other wee problems that will crop up with new ownership.

I just got back from having mine checked .
The mechanic spent a lot of time on it checking everything was working and couldnt find anything wrong. The dealer checked a couple of other Bongos and they were all the same but he swapped over some bits and pieces. It didnt make any difference. He then checked the Bongo hand book as he was mystified and found that there is nothing wrong,it is meant to be like this .

I only had a japanese version of the book so he gave me a translated one.
it says....................
"setting the temperature at 18dgrees will automatically operate the air con.
setting the temperature at 32 degrees will automatically operate the heater"
then is states
" WARNING.
to let the warm air come out of leg area and cool air from the upper body area select the upper body/lower leg mode and set the temperature around 25degrees"

So if you have the "AUTO" mode off you will always get cold air from the top vents unless its at 32
If you have the "AUTO" mode on the system will decide where the heat needs to go to.

So on the way home I put it onto AUTO and noticed the heat was mostly directed to the feet. That left my toes burning hot and a cold spot around my knees. The only way I could be comfortable was to put a scarf on my knees and occasionally turn off the auto ,turn the temp up to 32 to get the heat to the top for a minute then turn back on auto when it got too hot there .
PLease, someone who has used their heating system longer than me tell me this is not the way it is meant to work and there is a solution

I feel your pain but all I can offer at the moment is that isn't how it's suposed to be.

Plenty of Techies will pick up on this, there'll be a simple solution for sure.

I did notice today that mine changed it's mode automatically, but I changed it back to where I wanted it by pressing the mode button, it stayed there & I'm pretty sure I had heat somewhere in the 20's. Maybe it's just on the initial warm up? I'd check my manual but I think it's in the bongo & it's cold out there

I have noticed that I get cold air around my left knee, I think it get pulled in from the rear of the car and maybe where the handbrake come through. What I keep meaning to do is run the rear heater and see if that helps

Interesting Max. Yes, I seem to recall having had the same (minor) problem when I first got the Bongo, but not noticed it since as far as I can recall. No idea why that is. Maybe my left knee has become Bongo hardened

There isn't one on the digital climate control - not on mine anyway.

For those without the English manual;

In ours at 18°C not only is the AirCon on but the Blowers come on MAX, likewise at 32°C the Heater is on and the Blowers are MAX, between these settings on Auto the blower varies and the temperature changes smoothly between 18.5°C and 31.5°C and the direction flaps will change, not sure how it decides because it only has 1 internal sensor in the Cab area.

Hi, recently had coolant system flushed and refilled (50/50 mix) and thorough bleed on our '99 V6 , i have moved the lever under the bonnet to the winter position this past week and 'great', really snug at 28 degrees , position is at face & feet .

Sorry If I am being really thick here but if you are on manual and set the temperature to say ,27 degrees, do you get hot air from the top blowers or cold air?..
On manual I get cold air from the top, at all temperatures except 32, which is correct from what I take from the English manual.
