Bongo Fury

Hi Alison - was your battery layout correct? I placed the order yesterday, and received it today. Great, I thought until I opened the box - the terminal layout was incorrect. http://www.leisurebatteryshop.co.uk/Elecsol-100-Battery shows the +ve on front left, and that's what was in the spec when I ordered too. Turned out it was -ve front left. I phoned them up, and they said different batches arrive with different layout, and they have no way of knowing which one would be sent They tried to talk me into altering the cabling in the vehicle - which of course is not an option! So, back it goes to them for a refund! Anybody thinking of buying an elecsol - you've got a 50/50 chance of it being correct!

Will the leisure battery cabling not reach +ve at the rear left, if you turn the whole battery round? The -ve lead should be easy to move if required.

The Willinton kit +ve lead comes from the back of the bonnet area to the battery, and should reach rear left or rear right (looking in from the front, of course).

I was trying to avoid any faffing around, but with a bit of moving things around I should be able to get it in. The battery itself looks ideal, much more manageable than the lump I had in there before, and if it lives up to the spec, should easily be up to the job. Now that I've regained my temper a bit, its probably worth the extra hassle now than order another battery I'm not happy with. (I still reckon it should be made clear when you buy the thing that you take pot luck regarding post layout).

Elecsol are very good we have had one for a couple of years. If it runs flat no damage to battery as ours has run flat several times. Charges back up on split charge relay when bongo running in very quick time.

That's good to know. I ended up keeping the battery and rejigging the cables. I can't believe how small it is for 100Ah.

Looks like the Elecsol 125Ah should fit too - it's exactly the same size as my old battery - but its another 35 quid.
