The Wd trick will only silence the belt temporarily,it needs to be correctly tensioned as i mentioned earlier...dead easy

Problem is I sprayed the two top belts with teeth and the lower aircon belt so im not sure which one was squeaking?
The aircon one feels like the rubber is corroding and flakey so will need changing. I think the top belts are new as they were changed when recently serviced by a reputable Bongo garage.
My knowledge is limited and other than adjust the tension on the aircon belt some time ago im not too clued up on any of the others?
Which belt/s are you refering to?
edit"just re read your first post and I think your talking about the two belts that are connected to the alternator, they feel pretty tight though i will go and check again. I need to let the noise come back and spray each belt separately so i can pin point the problem (desparate measures before). Worried about over tightening, what could that do? I may just tighten them a tad at a time to start with until noise stops but ensuring i dont go mad?"
Thanks again.
Rams.

Overtighten the alternator belts and you'll load the water pump bearing to the point of early failure!
The aircon belt will only squeak if it's worn or frayed when the a/c is switched on - otherwise it just idles without load.

The amount of deflection of the belt is a pretty good indicator as to whether the belt is over tensioned or not...Whaddya reckon dandy? 4-5 mm?

Dim & distant memory that it's @ 10mm? may be completely wrong, sounds like the a/c belt needs replacing asap, more likely to be the culprit, especially having just read the initial post.

The manual recommends using a spring balance midway at the longest run of the belt - can't rememver the figure at the moment - I'll find out later tonight

Well thank god its just the aircon belt! Got meself a new can of WD and sprayed individually. sprayed the aircon belt first and noise went. The noise was there even when aircon was off which confused me but the motor still spins just not under as much tension.
Just need to know how hard it is to change now, i will do a search.
Thanks all for your very quick help nad pointers, much appreciated.
