Bongo Fury

started the bleeding process again late morning today and went much better.temp didnt go right up like before.stat opened and bottom hose got nice and hot.heaters giving lots of heat.plenty of air came out of bleed tube .
test drive went fine and will keep an eye on the level over the next few days.
job done i hope!

we took the bongo into france for our hols and after a couple of days it developed a slight weep from a rear heater hose.jubilee clip tightened and weep fixed.
about six days later haydns coolant alarm went off at engine start on campsite.topped up level and had a good look round to find one of the main pipes behind the undertray was weeping-dropped tray and retightened the jubilee clip and then rechecked all the others finding no more leaking or required tightening.
in total lost about 2 ltrs and haydns alarm did its job.
this after i checked the level daily for several days prior to setting off and whilst away.

Very interesting that, Rob and thanks for the heads-up. Were these the 'old' hoses or had you been fitting new ones? If it was the old ones then its a reminder that you can't take it for granted that the jointing points will stay sound and sealed. Not had that happen before on a car, to my knowledge.

Cripes! A reminder to factor in a coolant alarm as part of system wide hose renewal. You should be safe (fingers crossed) from any more bother for a while. Must do mine sometime (too tight to take the plunge yet!!!)

I find it hard to belive there are still people out there who say you could spend the money better than on a coolant loss alarm. There are 2/3 current topics where it has done the job.
