Spot on Rooster as usual. Hoggman - maybe all you are seeing is the difference in level from warm to cold. I'm no Rooster, but if as a result you were tempted to tip extra water in, might it dump it (pressure relief, out the overflow?) when it gets hot as it has, in effect, been overfilled?

Oh and like the others, I've lost no coolant in 18 months

Actually it collects about 3 gallons a year through the roof= 1 gallon every 4 months

I lost approximately half a cup of coolant during my first three years or so of ownership, (it needed half a cup of coolant to top up anyhow). I have had zero loss of coolant since i had my flippa hoses fitted... :wink:

I guess i was in a similar boat to hogggman, very slight loss of coolant through one of the original hoses, or one of the original connections wasn't tight enough...? :?

Hogggmann, seriously -at first opportunity :!: get the coolant system pressure tested at a garage by an experienced diesel mechanic.
