Tyre pressures

Post by Keswick » Sun Jun 17, 2007 5:23 pm

I've looked and looked in members and all I can find is lots of discussion on sizes of tyre. Really need to pump ours up and need the pressures. Can you tell me what pressures we need fore and aft for normal loads? Cheers.

I have 205/65s all round and find the recommended pressures too low - I use 34 front and 36 rear.

Didn't think you were Pete - different tyres and different loads make each vehicle different. I used the guide figures to start with, but tyres looked flat and steering was vague, so I upped them and found an immediate improvement. Thing is to experiment, within reason, and keep an eye on the tyre wear, braking effects etc.

Returning to thread, I'm with franco. I put my rears up to 38-40psi when trailer was attached as they looked a bit bulgy. Havent bothered to put them back down and they look and ride v nicely. Am I being very naughty?

The manual says 2.0 bar front (29 psi), 2.4 bar rear (35 psi).

I run ours (215s all round) at 34 front and 38 rear. I feel happier with the ride and handling at slightly higher pressures.

I run mine a bit high as well, 40 back and 38 front. I find it drives a bit crisper and turns in nicer. 34 is very low for the weight and I didn't like the bulges. My tyres are rated for 50psi so well within tyre specs.

195s allround, after much experimenting I now put in 40 allround. Suits me and handles fine. :D
