how can i get the heater fan switch out of the dash,

i,ve poked a screwdriver in the 4 holes and relesed the clips, but can only move it forward about 1 cm, then it stops,
my fan doesn,t work on any of the speeds, do you think its the switch and how do i get it out,,, and just one thing,, where can i get a new one!!

Stop struggling with the dash - it isn't the switches.

The fault will be the fan resistor assembly under the bonnet.

Do a search as there is already masses of info on this already on the forum, plus a detailed fact sheet in the (£10 subscription and a bargain at that) Members Club.

i did what you said, i bought a fan resistor and just fitted it!!!! £50!!!! and no change!!! so back to my first question, how do i get the fan switch out of the dash? please can somebody help me!

Oooooooops!!!

There are a couple of Bowden cables coming out from the unit, one of which disappears towards the drivers left leg.

Undo the clip which holds it and you should find the assembly will come further forwards.

I'd check to see if the fan motor spins - if you take off the plastic air intake you can get your hand in - see if it turns easily - could be seized which most people think causes the resistor to blow its solder contacts.
