MOT
I have my MOT tomorrow and just noticed that my front fogs don't appear to work - I'm guessing its the switch next to the ligth stalk on the steering column.
Do they have to work for the MOT? - I've checked the fuses and bulbs.

Nice to know someone else has similar problems. Update : I took the speedo cowl off and the switch wasn't connected - one light now working - the other's bulb is broken.
Here's hoping it will get through.

Also give it a good hard drive before takeing it in as this can help emissions but only if it is done quite quickly after you take it in if it stands for a few hours this will not help, any other tips? PLEASE?

I always get my mot done at least two weeks before it is due, that way I have a chance to get any parts needed and if you have a friendly garage who do a "dry run through" first so much the better, only got caught once when I left it until the last day to get it tested and it failed, that was on my 1964 Triumph Herald. a fabulous car who's passing I still mourn. Happy motoring.

Rear fog lights are required for the MOT but not front.

Spot on smartmonkey, if lights are fitted they should work, much the same as if you have spare wheel, the tyre must be legal, but its not illegal NOT to have a spare.
I'd be very suprised if the m.o.t tester switches on the front fogs though in all honesty, it's the rear fogs he's interested in...
