17" Bling Alloys

Post by lochan2 » Sun Jun 03, 2007 8:01 pm

Hi, just a thought, I recently bought my 4wd bongo and have been reading the handbook and the fact that normally front/rear have different sizes on the 15" rims.
Mines came with 17" wheels which are shod all round on 225x55x17 -101w
is this likely to cause problems in the future.
regards lochan2
ps. sorry about previous post/whisper...I honestly don't know.(yet!)

I wouldnt think it should cause problems as long as they are the same size all round. There are plenty of people running 215/15's despite mazda recommendation for the 195/215 front rear combination.
They are a bit wider than standard which may cause a bit more drag when turning sharp, but I am by no means an expert in mechanical matters.
I am planning to run my own 4wd on 215/55/17's all round when I get to doing the MOT.

20" alloys here, 255/30/20, been running on them for a year, apart from the cost of replacing the tyres.. no problems yet!

Mazda use different profiles to keep the same circumference between the diffent widths. As yours are all the same width they need to be the same profile to match.
The 17's will knock out wheel bearings and suspension stuff a bit quicker but most people are happy with that trade for the looks.
