radiator fans / engine bay fan

hi all the only time i have ever heard the fans work is after i stop after a drive and turn the ignition back on is this normal?

im not sure i dont think i have ever heard the scavenger fan operate on my Bongo it never seems to come on even in hot whether is this normal too?

Very rarely heard mine during the Winter,however with the recent warm spell it does come on and off when its required.

Hi silvergecko, mine comes on when you switch the engine back on,but only if its warm outside,and its only been switched off for a few minutes...
You cant hear it with the engine running though... :wink:

ah maybe thats the reason i have not heard mine come on it has but i just havent heard it because of the engine noise being so loud perhaps i should have a look one day if that makes sense

I think it's there to clear hot air out of the engine area - when the engine's off and the van is stationary then heat soak in the compartment could bring it on if the outside temperature is high enough.

I have heard and felt the scavenger fan running when going to start her up whilst the engine is still hot.

You will know if the scavenger fan is running by checking the temp of the handrake, if it is cool-fan is doing its job :wink:
