Its gotta be. Bongo's are great, but not that great.
Your mileage suggests that the previous owner went to the moon and back.

How about driving a mile up the road. If the last 2 digits change by 16 then its in tenths

Mine's a 6 digit number in whole kilometres, with tenths only shown on the trip meter. Still 521527.5 miles could be a record

When I first moved North in the 1980s, I lived next to a builder and keen gardener called Albert. One day I was attempting to do a bit of gardening tidy up on my side of the low fence that divided our two small strip gardens, and Albert was preening his prize geraniums on the other. I felt very self conscious, and didnt know what to do about which plants to pull up cos they were weeds and which to leave cos they were plants. So I plucked up courage and called over to him to ask if the one I was looking at was a weed or a plant. He said "Do you like it?" and I said "Not much". Then he replied "Well its a weed then isnt it." Spot on

So - in moonshine (BF member) speak and although it would be interesting to know what the real mileage is - if it looks good, sounds good and drives good it probably is good whatever the mileage is 8)

any one ele got 6 numbers which totals a stupid amount of mileage,

the end digit has to be a click surely, and it should not be noted on an mot.....

thanks for all the answers soooo far

Mine reads 070870 nearly 71k- sounds like your bongo was clocked by an idiot. :)

Seriosly can not think of a reason for this unless it was accidently knocked when speedo face was changed

no i thought that but the mot prior to the clock face change was also 6 digits long,

think its a mystery really and thats that,

never mind, dont they kick them out in japan when theyve done a certain mileage or is it the age they go on,....

Just had a look at mine and I can only think that its been in bits and not put back right, so the left one is being dragged over with the adjacent one.

Cant see one doing half a million miles

mine has 6 digits but I think they are all full KMs. 105600 approx had it since 93000 so now done approx 60,000 miles which seems about right for the wear & tear etc. BUT my speedo reads wronly all the time and a mechnic friend think it may have been damaged when the new face was fitted, could your didgits have been moved by accident as your KM reading seems excessive to say the least.
Be nice to everyone they might be nice back.

hi , As Mike said if its running fine I wouldn't worry about it.If it had done that many miles the interior would be thread bare, by the waywhat did the dealer tell you it had done when you bought it?

Mines having a fun old time as it tries to move to 70,000. The hundreds, tens and ones cylinders seem to have got to about 500 miles but the 7 and the 0 are still trying to decide whether they want to be on screen or not yet. I dont really care as I will never be selling my Bongo anyway 8) 8)

It hasn't done lots of miles so why worry. I am sure it is a case of careless clocking but as loads of them have been done it really makes no odds. When I bought my Bongo I didn't bother looking at the speedo - you buy these things on condition. If it runs well, doesn't overheat and has a slick gearbox you have a good one.

Well said, smartmonkey. That's what I am always saying. A typical 10 year old British car would have between 100,000 and 120,000 miles on the clock. Therefore 70,000 is low mileage, and you have no idea how the vehicle has been treated anyway. At 10 years old, one vehicle with 70,000 on the clock is just nicely run in, whereas another with the same mileage is absolutely knackered as it has been thrashed, and servicing has been neglected. Condition is everything.
