I'm still puzzling over bike racks. I was going to fit a fiamma pro c (thanks for all your advice haydn) but my mechanic doesnt believe the door to be strong enough.
So I think the way forward is a vw carry bike but my bongo has a spoiler fitted.
How easy is it to remove the spoiler all together, is this a feasable option?
Has anyone cut into their spoiler to fit a rack, how did you do it?
I really dot want to use a strap on scratch rack
Many thanks
Ian
PS I live too far away to consider asking ava to fit one for me

If you can try and get a harry moss bike rack, I have one and it fits a treat with the spoiler and I can open the tailgate, I also used it on my Espace and Toyota Spacecruisers, worth a trip round the boot sales to look for one and it takes three bikes. I would not dare cut my spoiler. Good luck. Happy motoring.
Hi 3leggeddog,
I ordered a Fiamma VWT4 rack on Monday night and it arrived Wednesday. I'd decided to take the plunge and have a go at fitting it to my Bongo which also has a spoiler.
The spoiler itself is dead easy to remove and surprisingly light! Four bolts (T30H Torx head) and then just separate it from the tailgate- there are two locating pins that are a friction fit. Then there's the cable on the rhs which just unclips.
I've assembled the rack tonight and there are a couple of issues with the VWT4 one which is why they recommend the Merc Vito one I guess. But it's now fitted to the tailgate and the spoiler is in the garage.
Sometime over the weekend I'm going to try and cut the spoiler and get it all sorted. I've been taking a few pictures ad will post them when I've completed the job - succesfully or not.
