Grubby trim panels

Hello from very sunny Cornwall !
Just getting the 'ol Bongo ready for it's first foray into camping mode now that the weather looks set for a bit, and thought I would give the interior a good valet just to freshen it up.
Came to clean the door panels and grey plastic bits that looked a bit grubby and just can't seem to get them looking any better! I've tried 1001, traffic film remover, interior shampoo etc etc but still there are dark ingrained areas everywhere on the trim especially around thigh area by the front seats.

Has anybody found a really good cleaner that does exactly what it says on the tin?? Are there any valeting experts that can advise? Be most grateful for any tips!!

I did mine with a Magic Sponge, as recommended by someone on here - works great!

Mine was from Wilkinsons, branded " Ease Away" - 2 in a pack, about 99p.

I find the Autoglym upholstery cleaner good for interior trim and carpets

I hate to sound lazy but I have started using a valeter. For about £40 to £50 they give me a slightly damp but brand new car back. The wet steam clean is about as effective as it gets and you know all the muck from then on is your own.

Ou've got me thinking smartmonkey (as usual). I have a steam wallpaper stripper. I bet I could use that (carefully) against good trim panels whilst having a scrubbing brush and suitable vinyl cleaning spray handy, and I' d be able to get a reuslt on the cheap

Hi Malc,

Thanks for bringing up this topic as my 'Baldrick' has a similar problem despite the dealers promise of a 'full valet' before collection! I have tried the auto glym cleaner which didn't work at all, but I do like the idea of the steam cleaner, I have one covered in dust and fluff in the cupboard under the stairs, perhaps I'll wait for a warm sunny day and give it a blast, it'll save £50 at least

I had the same on my panels.Don't bother with anything other than Duzzit sponge erazer.I get mine from our pound shop,4x sponge = £1.Doesn't really matter how many you use.Just wipe with a damp cloth after.
