Long seat rails to short rail car

On the right - short rail
On the left - cut down long rail
There are two extra brackets on the long rail . What are they for?

The brackets are on the o/s rail - they are there to stop the seat being flung back too far (stops you crushing the back seat passengers). There is a spring loaded lever on the runners on the o/s also.

Best just to cut them off.

Dont forget to reposition the locating lug. They are quite easy to cut off, but best to cut away the weld therefore leving the 6mm? tab attached. This can be used to get it dead centre by drilling the hole and tacking it on.
I have found that the lug is more important to be central on the rail as opposed to length where a mm or so either way is unlikely to make a huge difference.

Yes ,this is the way I removed them, leaving the locating tag in place. I will use the short rail as a template /guide when drilling the new hole. I left a little on the length of the rail and may fit the buffer pin an inch or so from the end leaving space for a folding cargo tie down eye on each side - or might not bother!
