A good breakdown Ian but a garage charging £30/hour certainly won't be paying their mechanics 25k a year...................more like 18k A paltry sum for what they're supposed to know and get right first time! Never mind the potential human life cost if it goes wrong by inexperienced hands

High time mechanics were licenced, like gas fitters etc.
The IMI are trying hard to see it done - problem is there's too many folks who think they know it all having read a Haynes manual...................

Even in this supposedly high wage area, they would be very lucky to get £18k even. I doubt whether even the local Mercedes dealership with its £90+ an hour labour charge, pays its mechanics more than £16,000 a year.
