cor blimey something else now

Post by clogger » Thu Mar 08, 2007 7:25 pm

now then peeps it`s not my day
just went to fit my egr blanking plates mmm fitted them after finding one of the threads partially stripped on the front engine side
noticed whilst fitting the other side down by the airfilter pipe

there was a bit of tubing hanging down with a 1 way valve in it that led up to a connector at the top rear of the engine with a couple of wires onit
but it was snapped off at the bottom where it went into the airfilter pipe either i`ve done it but i think it was already missing
hard to explain without a photo but it`s dark

anyone explain what this is ?? engine seemed to start idle rev ok without it any ideas
cant repair this one either as it snapped off at the base of the 1 way valve

not my day

I do not have a spare valve, I had a stripped bolt, got it recoiled, I am considering disabling EGR, but may do it without the blanking plates

I've seen this before. You can buy a new pipe from Mazda. Or you could try a cheap and simple repair on the one you've got and see if you're happy with it.

Where it's snapped, you'll see a hole where the pipe used to connect. Get a piece of steel brake pipe, drill out the old hole to accommodate the brake pipe, slide it into place and reconnect the tube to the brake pipe.

I've just had the same problem, see http://tinyurl.com/2jhr5u

I reamed the inside of the valve and the broken bit out to a diameter that would receive a piece of Biro refill pipe to act as a spigot and then carefully glued the two parts together, checking that the valve still worked,
