Hello all!
I've just opened my roof for the first time to have a really good look at it and play with all the zips etc to find out whats what, and noticed that I have two tears/splits in the fly netting. If I touch it at all the tear grows very easily and very quickly! Has anyone any experience of this? Can it be replaced or patched? Also some of the screws holding the aluminium 'tent' top frame to the underside of the raising roof have slipped out of their holes allowing the frame to drop slightly - but they are tight and don't seem to want to budge either way!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Malc from Bude.

The flyscreen zips out entirely and I know you can get them replaced but don't know of a supplier or price I'm afraid.

I can see that the top of the flyscreen unzips - but it's well and truly sewn onto the lower plastic 'tenting' Was the arrangement different in some models?
Thanks,
Malc.

Sorry I haven't looked closely.
When I bought mine it had a couple of bodged repairs in the netting. The supplier told me he had a contact who could replace the whole lot but that he was away on holiday at the time, so I didn't push it any further. I could provide the supplier's name if you like but I've a feeling that one or two others on here have replaced theirs. Leave it a day or two and see if anyone answers your request more positively.

Use Araldite to refit the screws into their sockets.

...or superglue.
As to rips in the mesh we had a couple of tiny ones, and fixed them with some tent 'seam sealer' we happened to have (ours came with a Khyam tent).
There is a tube of it in this tent repair kit from Towsure:

The seam sealer is clear plasticky stuff, sets very quickly and remains flexible. Perfect for small repairs anyway. Stops tears running further. I'm sure I have seen tubes for sale on their own in camping shops.
Oh yes, this is the stuff: Gelert Seam Sealer (ACC232) £2.99

The netting is particularly prone to rotting, causing it to rip at the slightest touch. Most dealers I have spoken to suggest its easiet to just cut out the netting altogether if its badly ripped. Its quite expensive to get fixed if you feel you really must have it.
Dandywarhol is right - araldite is the best glue to use to refit the tent screw. What you will find is the screw is screwed into a small aluminium lug that is bonded into the roof. It is this lug which is likely to have come loose. My best advice would be to make sure the lug is pushed all the way home before the glue sets - best done without full tension on the roof tent.

We raise our roof quite frequently on a dry day to freshen and air the roof out. It helps to stop damp and mould.

Any idea what promotes the rotting madmile (UV, damp etc.) so we can avoid the risk if poss? On repair / replacement, I wonder if a replacement involving some mind of netting material and velcro could be made to look presentable - and openable. Though you could argue it doesn't ever need to be opened, in which case some patient sewing - maybe onto the edge of the old netting if it is still sound - might produce a low cost 'fix'.
