Thank you all for the help, managed to get a new key cut by code, was saved the hassle of dismantling the lock by a forward thinking angel in disguise who was kind enough to write the key code on the manual for numpties like myself. Have already made copies so it doesn’t happen again!

I've often taken photo's of keys on a nice white background and included a high contrast version as well, several companies offer to cut keys from the outlines and in the case of car keys the barrel codes are often visible as well, worth including a ruler in the shot as well so that length can be confirmed as well.
