Hose identification quest.

Post by adamlacey996 » Tue Jun 24, 2025 12:55 am

Evening...

In the vain attempts troubleshooting a high CO emmissions MOT failure I was changing the air filter on my my V6 and noticed what looks like oily residure around what I think are breather hoses on on the offside bank under the drivers seat (see pic).

I believe the one of the left is the crankcase breather valve but no idea about the one on the right - which worryingly is very loose and lifts out with very little resistence. Looks to have some kind of value inside and a seal but no retaining mechanism I can see.

Any help identifying it and recommendations around new seal or replacement part hugely welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked the diagrams ? It looks like part number JE48102EYA, or diagram number10-2EY https://www.lushprojects.com/bongoparts ... o=.html#20 perhaps ?

Thanks, Yes I can see it's 10-2EY off the diagram but even with the part number I can find no description of it's function other than 'VALVE,CHECK-HEAD COVER'.

Guess I was looking more around advice of whether the apparent oil stain blowout around the base of these valves is normal or anything that needs to be resolved, particularly around potential impact on emissions.

thanks again.

I would say its normal, in fact your engine looks cleaner than mine! They do tend to be oily beasts from that generation of vehicle.
Oil often gathers in the spark plug holes especially the rear ones due to the slope of the engine etc. This is mine taken today 2001 vehicle;
