Attaching table rail?

Post by Flanners » Mon Jan 08, 2018 8:51 pm

I have a rear conversion with seats/storage over the rear wheel arches and a table rail on the kitchen unit. I have purchased another rail to go on the o/s of the van so when the seat is swivelled it allows more table location options so into the chassis not into a kitchen unit.

I have the rail and fittings but can someone recommend a procedure/items needed to attach the rail to the van chassis/trim securely?

Ours is fixed to the trim below the middle window with self tappers.

Just right when sat on the bench seat whichever way it's facing.

Obviously don't use a spirit level, either eye ball or tape measure. :wink:
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

can i take it from this thread that there is no specific points to which the rail for a fold-away table should be attached? I can screw it anywere into the trim?

Best to ensure that there is something to screw into behind the plastic trim, the plastic trim alone will not hold screws after a bit of use, just a small square of 3-ply at least behind the plastic to spread the load on the plastic itself and to hold the the thread of the screws.
Another method I've heard mention is to use the plaster board winged screws like;
