Rear windscreen water jet disconnected? (V6)

Post by agentdagnamit » Tue Apr 01, 2025 12:58 pm

Hi. My rear water jet suddenly stopped working. The sound hasnt changed when I try to operate it, but no water is coming out. I dont think the nozel is blocked. The screen wash tank is full!

I seem to remember this happening on my previous (diesel) Bongo about 10 years ago, and it was a result of the plastic hose being disconnected somewhere in or near the tailgate. But I cant remember where exactly that join is. I dont remember removing any panelling to locate it though.

Anyone know the likely cause before I take it to a garage for a look?

Thanks

If you open the rear door/tailgate, on the nearside at the top is a seal which the pipe comes thru from the chassis and it has a connector which might have been pulled apart. Also its not unknown for the rear pump on the bottle (rear of bottle part way up) to become blocked, they pull out and can be cleaned.

Might be worth seeing if you can swap the pipe onto the other pump to test.

If not the pumps can be swapped over.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

If you pull out the pipe gently on the van side you will find inside a little one way valve this also gets blocked. Trust me, it's in there.!!.

At the nozzle end or near the bottle?

Use the diagrams 67-508 towards the rear https://www.lushprojects.com/bongoparts ... mgno=.html

Open the back door, remove the grommet at the van side, it's inside the pipe a few inches inside the rear roof. Squash the pipe gently with your fingers, you will feel it, it's in there for holding the screen wash near to the nozzle so it doesn't run back to the bottle
