Sussex / Brighton - Towbar fitting recommendations

Post by notpoodle » Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:37 am

Hi!

Does anyone have a recommendation for Towbar Fitting in Sussex / Brighton? I have the Towbar (TowTrust one, we use one of these on Bongo #1 and are very happy with it), but need someone to fit it once Belinda comes back from welding next week.

Sussex Towing brackets have no appointments until end of August, and I have been trying to pin down the guy from 24/7 Towbars in Brighton for two weeks now (can't get through / line breaks up / does not call back / does not respond to emails) :(

My garage don't do towbars, unfortunately.

Thanks!!

Julia

I've just booked mine in for this Wednesday at Affordable Towbars at Crowbrough, as I was having the same problem!

Or not :( the welder got Covid, so Belinda won't be towbar ready for another week or so :(

Hello, did the towbar fitting(s) go well? You recommend Affordable Towbars at Crowbrough?
And which did you get, fixed flange, swan neck? Just thinking of missing the tailgate!
Thanks!

Yes I had no real problems, took a little longer than they expected but a good job. There is really only one towbar https://tow-trust.co.uk/towbars/mazda/b ... 992+-+2005
if you want greater clearance for the tailgate then add spacers https://tow-trust.co.uk/towbars/accessories/spacers as much as needed or allowed for the design.

I can highly recommend a tow bar step:

Plenty of other sellers.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Evening all

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I’m looking at fitting a tow bar to me Bongo but am struggling to find one that will definitely fit…. The link in the above doesn't work. Anyone else got any other options that have worked for them? I’m happy to have a go at fitting it myself. It’s not to tow - just for a bike rack.

Try this frame https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334703906061
and a TMZ168 ball to attach
or similar https://towsure.com/collections/towbars ... 92-onwards

A google search will get you several hits.
