Vacuum issues

Post by Marko4558 » Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:27 am

Hello there,

I’ve recently done a core plug change (the horrific to access one behind the fuel pump) on my 2.5td and upon putting it all back together broke some of the vacuum pipes.

All replaced and good now however I noticed the cold start actuator won’t engage and there doesn’t appear to be any vacuum pressure from the vacuum pump, I’m wondering if it’s had it and needs replacing or if I’m missing something. Surely when the engine is turning over, it should be producing negative pressure? Also the abs light is now on which would suggest the booster isn’t getting vacuum too I guess.

Anyone else experienced this? They are pretty cheap on eBay so I’m
Not too worried but obviously don’t want to rip it out if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick.

I guess you can really only check by testing at the vacuum pump spigot itself, it could be a cracked pipe 20-441A coming from the pump ?

Good suggestion I may have caught it taking the timing belt cover off I guess. Will do some more investigating 😁
