Hold light on at 25mph - advice please

Post by Bongobongo259 » Mon Jan 27, 2025 1:16 am

Hi my hold light is flashing - this is plugged M and ground for transmission fault codes. Car drives perfect and the gears are perfect. I've cleaned the crank sensor and drove the car around. I've tried doing the brake pedal reset etc but the code keeps coming back when I get to 25mph.. The rev counter has stopped working a couple of times in the past but it hasn't done it for a while.
I have counted the hold light flashes when reading the codes and it's getting code 16.
The car is driving absolutely fine and going through the gears perfect.
Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this please?
Thank you

You haven't said which engine or year which always helps when trying to diagnose errors but the error code translates to ;
16 EGR Position Sensor
If you haven't found it then a good starting place for earlier models is http://www.philmcfadden.co.uk/MazdaDiagnosticBox.htm

Humm EGR relates mainly too the petrol engines! Are you certain about the error code?

I'd bet it's related to your intermittent rev counter issue. Not sure on your 1995 model, but there are sensors everywhere on these things, all feeding the ECU.

The rev counter sensor is on the fuel injection pump. For example, a quick look on the club parts database for my 1999 model shows PICKUP, TACHOMETER (P/N: WLA1-13-TS0) located on the 1362 fuel injector.

Hi thank you :) il have a look.
It's a longer hold light which from what I have read is 10 and then 6 quick hold lights. I'm not sure if it will be 16 or 10 & 6. From what I have read both are sensors 😩 I have ordered a crank position. Sensor and I am hoping that fixes it.
Still stuck on what to do next after the crank position sensor :(

Thanks
