I have read through a bunch of threads, but couldn’t find a solution that would work for me. Fuel pump was leaking and also seemed to have trouble pulling fuel from the tank after running for 10-15 minutes (had gotten progressively worse). Anyways, got a refurb fuel pump and my mechanic friend installed it, he didn’t touch the timing according to him (could there be an issue here?). Now when we engage the starter there is flow from return line, but no start. It does fire up if I spray brake cleaner in the intake, but blows bluish smoke. We had it running for 20 minutes or so didn’t see any improvement. I took it for a drive lacks power and still blows smoke.
It used to fire right up with the old fuel pump and ran pretty good before we swapped. Also glow plugs were replaced not too long ago.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Just took the glow plugs out, reinstalled them on the rail, grounded them to the block individually and switched the power on and all of them glowed red hot.

It's above my pay grade this one. Where are you based? We might be able to find someone local who knows about such things to have a look.

If its blowing blue smoke I'd double check the fuel pump timing?
