Raising roof manually
please help I need to raise roof up manually just enough to get at motors . Is it just the 2 bolts at the rear the 12mm one that need undoing . Then separate the roof enough to get at motors. Thank you
Re: Raising roof manually
Welcome aboard!
Before you go down that route, what exactly is the problem, has it not been used for a LONG time ? Has it suddenly stopped working ? Give us some clues as there may be other faults which are easier to fix then trying to drop the motors!!!!

Re: Raising roof manually
Hi it has not been used for a few years, the hand brake light is on and it just bleeps when you press the button to go up and flashes on the dash the roof warning one .
Re: Raising roof manually
Make sure the rubber edge seal hasn't stuck to the paintwork, there should be a pair of plastic patches stuck to the paintwork at each front corner to prevent this but some times get damaged and peeled away. If your able to run an old credit card around the seal all the way then less likely to be that as the problem and then its probably down to accessing the motors. There are a couple of descriptions if you search on here and also a couple of YouTube video's, just be aware of the gas struts as they will be compressed and if you release ALL fixings for the roof then you will have another problem and the roof will have shoot backwards!!

Re: Raising roof manually
Hi thank you I have undo the 2 12 mm bolt at the rear but it will not open at all. I wanted just to open enough to get at motors but no way is moving . Are there any other bolts that you have to undo. I can slide card all round seal so it’s not that stopping it .cheers

See here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaSzghJ2tE0 DO NOT RELEASE THE NUTS/BOLTS that hold the gas springs!!!!!

Re: Raising roof manually
Hi thank you I won’t undo those 4 but looks like I am going to have to take the trim off and undo the other ones oh well I will go for it . Cheers
Re: Raising roof manually
There is another method but it can be just as fiddly, it involves pushing thin rods or garden canes under the front lip of the roof so that you can push the sliders backwards, but if you have never seen the arrangement under the front of the roof it can be to get the rods/canes aligned to push on the sliders;

Re: Raising roof manually
Thanks for the help I have taken all the trim off the inside and un done the bolts raised the back up to get at motors it was not to bad of a job just a bit fiddley. Also got to the control module at the rear drivers side inner panel. The motors after putting direct power to them seem to work. I would like to put direct power to the roof top module itself to try both in tandem . Is there a wiring diagram for it as a few wires and not sure which ones on the roof control module itself. Or any other advise Thank you
Re: Raising roof manually
Yes the wiring diagrams are still available in various forms my web based Flash based diagrams are detailed on this thread viewtopic.php?p=723668#p723668 but you will need a different browser capable of showing the old Flash code, there are also other methods using older browsers and Ian still has the original diagrams for sale.
