You might want to look at the Commuting aspect as insurers raise the price dramatically if you have that included it seems!!!
Yes the 2.5l V6 is a nice engine, not had any coolant problems with the two I have owned, but they do have a similar amount of pipework as the diesel.

Thanks for this- yeah insurance is nuts these days but is the same for the Skoda karoq I was thinking of getting instead and a bongo seems a lot more fun

Right on! Mike from The Lizard here. I have a 1997 Bongo AFT Diesel, burgundy/black. I wasn't expecting it to become a vocation but you know what they're like. Engine block replaced 9 months ago. 5 grands worth of restoration welding. On and on it seems to go. Just got it back from the garage and it's going back in next week for something else. Never mind 'tis what 'tis.

They do vary! I'm on my second one after a seized engine back in 2021 after Covid, but after a replacement engine it was back on the road and still going, whilst I upgraded to a slightly more recent one!
