Camshaft sprocket removal

Post by jsforest1991 » Sat Oct 08, 2022 7:57 pm

Hi,

We are trying to remove the camshaft sprocket on a 1996 2.5 diesel as changing the head after overheating. We have a 17mm breaker bar on the nut, and a 26mm spanner on the camshaft flats. But we cannot get the nut off. We are assuming it's a normal thread and not reversed?

What are we missing?

Just a wee bit of grunt . Probably fitted with locktight. Why do you need to remove the sprocket, is it faulty??

Thanks, realised that the cover had another two small bolts. Removed them and the camshaft comes out without the need to take the sprocket off.

Cheers
