Coolant Leak - Rear Heating Matrix

Post by BongoCarter » Wed Sep 07, 2022 9:47 pm

While away in Wales last week my Bongo sprung a fairly dramatic coolant leak at the rear heating matrix.

Both inlet/outlet hoses are dripping slightly, but just rear of this is another 'outlet' that has coolant jetting out. (I'm not sure what it is called but it is about 1inch long and is the main source of the leak).
Is this a point for bleeding?

I suspect the main inlet/outlet hose connections are corroded and may just bypass the rear matrix as a solution, but is there some sort of bung or cap that should have been the additional 'outlet'?

All needs a good clean, patching up, refill and bleed so any help appreciated.

Can send a photo if helpful.

Thanks.

Equally a photo of someone else's intact rear heating matrix would also be very helpful!

Without a photo difficult to be sure, but there is a drain for condensation which is what I suspect your seeing, in this case it sounds like the matrix itself is holed internally and hence the coolant coming out via the drain hole.
