Bongo 2 litre Distributor misfire

Post by GeoB » Tue Apr 19, 2022 9:26 am

Hi All, I am new to this forum and I have a distributor misfire problem

Well it is my daughters 2000 2 litre 4 wire distributor causing a problem as follows

The distributor appears to have a gap/crack at the base and I can see an arcing deep within this gap/crack. I don't know if the gap is supposed to be there as it is a very neat gap/crack at 90 degrees around 3/4 mm in length both sides. I have inserted some superglue down this gap and started the engines a couple of times and it seems to resolved the arcing issue. My questions are as follows

Has anybody had this issue before and can recommend a solution
Do you think my amateur 'fix' will provide a long term solution
Is there a replacement distributor available to replace the old one and any useful info would be appreciated on replacing the distributor

Many thanks George B

They can crack when overtightened. New ones are available, there are a couple of types. https://bongoland.co.uk/product-category/electrics/
Allans Garage retired. Try PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services Plymouth
