Rear bump stops

Post by Bibble » Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:57 am

Hello all, just looking for a bit of information around rear bump stops. The offside on my 1997 Bongo is pretty badly mangled now so bought a new one. The new one is significantly ‘Taller’ than the original item. I presume they were redesigned at some point? I followed a previous topic link on bump stops where members were fabricating their own to match the original? I’m happy to forgo the originality and replace both sides on my bongo now, but are these taller ones the only version available (as per the ones on this site to buy) and do they make any real difference to the ride at all?

Many thanks for any help.

Welcome aboard!

Not heard of a change in that area, the basic chassis was never altered only the externally visible trim bits. The Bump stops I've seen briefly are quite sizable as I recall. Your best way of checking will be to use the Mech. diagrams to locate the part number and then compare over the years the diagrams are available here http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/
The relevant 1995 part is 28-111B part number S10H28111
http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... f02.html#4
in the 2001 version its the same S10H28111

Thank you very much for your reply Geoff and the links - they are great, not seen them before.
The picture shows the size of stop I have purchased - mine currently fitted to the bongo are around a 1/3 of the size in terms of height, but perhaps they have just shrink or been worn down over the years! :D

I will buy a second one and fit as a pair.

Thank you again

Can you post a picture or show us a link to what you've bought?
