Overheating??

This might sound silly but, have you checked the expansion tank to see if it has coolant up to the Full line? That'd give you an indication that the system is leaking, or not.

Anything obvious blocking the radiator?

Radiator looks fine, put the air con on to ensure fan is working, so checked at the same time.

One other thing to bear in mind - maybe the ambient temperature is a little higher so the engine is running slightly warmer than usual. If all of the coolant system is OK, you've enough in the expansion tank, you've enough in the rad and there are no obvious leaks, it could be just ambient temps.

Another thing to try is to remove the sensor, give it a clean, then reattach. Just to ensure a clean and tight seal.

We are supposed to be going away this weekend. Going to try get it into Bongo Spares to get it checked! Having some reassurance would make the journey more enjoyable!!

While I’ve got everybody's attention, what sorts of revs are people pushing on their Bongos? I think the fact I’m sitting on the engine makes me hold back. Feel sorry for the old boy anything over 2500! In fact I rarely do, or try not to!

From memory just over 2000 gives about 60 in top, mostly does for the motorway.

More if I use kick-down to overtake on ordinary road, but it's not that often.

Overtake... it would have to be a bike, horse or tractor in my case!! Just wonder if I’m thinking it’s sluggish acceleration because I’m scared of ‘giving it some’.

Sounds as though you have a lack of performance....the 2.5 diesel has plenty of performance for most . Could be something as simple as a vac pipe split or work up from there.....defo doesn’t sound right......you CANNOT compare the running temp with. V6. Totally different....V6 will run cooler.

Just done same run, same issue, sensor at 100 when home! One thing I have just checked, the bottom pipe to radiator was only warm, nearly cold, top pipe red hot! Thermostat issue possibly?

Thanks for this. Probably about right. I drove the van today as I’d drive my car, acceleration seemed fine to be honest, I’ve just been worried about pushing it, therefore pushing the heat if the engine up. I think I had just got myself all paranoid.
I have it booked into a garage, sadly not Bongo Spares as they couldn’t get me in until middle of June. I have found ‘Bongo friendly’ garage more local. He owned one himself and assured me he had serviced many. Knew what he was talking about in terms of system bleed, etc.

I see a lot of people worried about the performance.

While its not going to win any races its quick enough to keep up with normal traffic.
I think the biggest issue with the Diesel is it revs a bit to high rather than using the tuque of the engine. Sometime just lifting of the gas slightly so it changes up has it accelerating faster..
Of course that wont work on hills.

I regally drive mine at 70 on the motorway and it has a bit in reserve when needed. in fact I think at about 2700 - 2800 revs its seems to hit a sweet spot and is quieter.

I also happily tow a race car on a trailer (probably about 1000kgs all up) at 60 and 70 on the motorway. its at slower speeds, up hills and on A roads when doing 40 and 50 where you have to work it a bit.

Back to your temperature.
Mine runs between 90 and 93 but will go up when going up a long hill or in traffic on a hot day.
Alarm on mine was set to 100 but have changed it to 105 now as it did hit 100 occasionally.
It dose sound like you maybe needs a system flush or maybe a new rad but it doesn't sound critical. 100 is where I start to get worried but in reality with a pressured system its going to be higher than than when it boils.
