So a quick update.
Having fitted two used headlights and taillights relays my problem appears to have been resolved. Although it was the headlight relay that showed most corrosion I opted to replace them both.
It has been a week now and I have checked the volts in the battery which has remained constant throughout.
As the lights were turning on randomly and draining the battery this would indicate they have not done this since being replaced.
So to recap, if you have a clicking from the relay/constant tone and your lights (only headlights) turn on without being turned on, or the slightest drain on the battery causes the lights to turn on, check the relay for corrosion.

Glad you got there, and thanks for the update. :)
