Same engine?

Post by rocketeeer » Sun Aug 30, 2020 2:42 pm

I've found the workshop manual for the 2006 Ford Ranger diesel engine: https://cardiagn.com/2006-09-ranger-engine/ It uses the same accelerator position sensor as my 53 plate new-shape bongo, and the diesel engine looks very similar. Is it in fact the same engine? If so, the Ranger manual is in English (USA English), and very detailed!

I understand that the Ford Ranger uses the actual basic WL-T engine so yes, but I suspect that not everything that surrounds it will match up.

Agree with Geoff, and be particularly careful if you use a Ranger head.

Can't remember all the details, though.

From experience the Ranger head does not have the all important 3 way hose connector needed to bleed the diesel. but this can be bought from the shop and its a fairly easy replacement. I have a Ranger head on my Bongo and that was the only difference I found. I did not check for internal dimensions, compression ratio comparisons though. it was the head that came with the Bongo when i bought it as a project
