Hi there, my van has recently failed our MOT equivalent with the same problem being identified on all four corners "A damaged, cracked, fractured, worn or exhausted spring component" on the "spring (coil/leaf), stabiliser and torsion bar".
Speaking with the tester and the terminology he used was it was the mounting platform that the coil springs sit into that have corroded and need replacing. Has anyone experienced this or know how to go about addressing it?
Looking at parts diagrams online, the rear coil spring seems to sit into a link/bar and the front appears to sit into part of the actual damper. From talking to the tester it was metal parts he was referring to so not any rubber seats or bushings or anything.
Appreciate any advice / opinion or even the terminology for what I'm looking to replace.
Many thanks

Re: Suspension mounting
Personally never heard that one before on the front there is only a metal cup at the top of the spring and at the bottom it’s the actual strut on the rear the bottom of the spring sits on the axle and the top is the chassis I wonder if he’s thinking of the anti roll bars instead
Re: Suspension mounting
Over here the test centres are different to garages so it can be a bit tricky if your mechanic doesn't spot the same issue the tester has.
He has sprayed all four coil springs with yellow paint to highlight the bits needing replacement and my garage were going to order four new springs but I called back to check and they confirmed springs were ok.
I understandderstood it to be the bit that sits immediately beneath the spring at both the front and rear (although possibly also above the springs)
Looking at the parts diagrams, my guess would be parts 34910 & 34910z on the front and parts 28-600b & 28-600x for the rear. Are those on the rear the anti roll bar?

Re: Suspension mounting
That would mean new front suspension legs and new trailing arms for the rear
Re: Suspension mounting
I don’t think I have ever heard of a mot failure cited on those reasons ever but there are more in the know people on the forum that probably know different
