Hey guys,
I recently bought my 2002 bongo and have been converting it to a camper. At the rear of the interior, on each side, there are 3 horizontal slits, that look like vents to me. Im just wondering what these are for? Is it ok to cover these? I ask because after sleeping in it during heavy rain, water ran down the inside wall, close to the rear door. The vent was on this side was covered, wondering if the two are related??
Cheers!
Whats the deal with the rear vent?

Hi.
Not sure what the vents are for, but generaly the designer will have put them there for a reason so, I would not be keen to cover them.
Likely for ventilation, which is important, especially if you're sleeping in it.

Re: Whats the deal with the rear vent?
There are air vent slots at the rear in the wheel arches to allow air to flow thru the vehicle, I would guess these slots in the trim are the ones that feed into these ? Not a good idea to block either way as its most likely going to cause condensation when people are sleeping in the van.

Re: Whats the deal with the rear vent?
I've recently had the two rear panels out of my 96 TD and those vents are adjacent to vents in the double skin above the wheel arches. As Geoff says above they are ventilation vents and are also designed to equalise the pressure in the van. I think if you cover them up you'll get some odd things happening like condensation and peoples ears popping when you slam the doors!
