FIP Rotary Sensor (Pulse Generator)

Post by LeatherMark » Sat Dec 21, 2019 9:28 am

I had to replace the FIP sensor on my 2002 Turbo Diesel Bongo as I had a code P1189. The part numbers I had were Zexel 479765-6320 or Bosch 943611796, or Mazda part number WLA113TSO.
I spoke to several Diesel Engine specialists (including Merlin Diesels) but they did not recognise any of these part numbers as available to purchase in the UK.
I managed to get a second hand sensor from a breakers, and it works ok, but I would prefer to get a new one.
Does anyone know a supplier/diesel specialist that can supply a new FIP sensor?
Thanks

There is a company https://www.merlindiesel.com/ who were listed in a previous posting that were able to supply a suitable part viewtopic.php?p=422467#p422467 they still seem to exist so maybe worth contacting ?

Hi, thanks for reply but I tried Merlin Diesel. They said that the part numbers were correct but their computer system would not allow them to order them in the UK. Their answer was basically "computer says no"!

Could they not suggest an equivalent part as they did in that thread above ?

I may have been unlucky with the person that I spoke to, as he was not able to offer anything more than saying the parts exist but he couldn't order them. He didn't offer any solutions. I will try them again to see if I get a better result.
If I can find an alternative part and its manufacture number I will post it on this thread.

That Mazda part number is shown as "No Longer Available".

Ooops, that doesn't sound good news. Am guessing that this may have been an uncommon failure for the Bongo, so maybe the second hand one that I got will last a lot longer.

Just thought I would let everyone know the outcome of the FIP sensor.
I received the following from Merlin Diesels -

"Morning Mark
The part is now obsolete and we don’t have any equivalent parts in stock. Also we do not have a fuel pump available
Apologies"

So it looks like obtaining any new parts for fuel pumps will be quite difficult. Fortunately I managed to get a second hand one, but I guess they may get hard to come by in the future. Many thanks to everyone who offered advice.
