Hi Bongonoughts
Does anyone know if I could use a electric mobility scooter battery as a back up leisure battery

Many thanks

If its a 12 volt Lead Acid, it will work, however the battery may not be designed for the type of charging it will get from the alternator, gel/AGM etc need much more control of the charging regime if they are to last for any length of time. It seems the rage these days to fit AGM batteries as they can be discharged to 80% of there capacity without damage, however the adverts forget to tell you that the charger must be designed for AGM as once fully charged the charging voltage must be dropped to 13.6v (from 14.4 volts) otherwise gassing will occur and as its a sealed battery you will loose electrolyte and damage it after several charging cycles.
