Spare wheel carrier

Post by Bongolia » Mon Aug 12, 2019 2:58 pm

I wonder if anyone has an image of the underside of Bongo with spare wheel removed?
Also could anyone link me to the parts page showing the components that make up spare wheel carrier.
I think in my enthusiasm for Wasp repair I may have cut off or failed to replace a bracket or two.

Thanks for that link great help.
I have now found and fitted the cable reel and the spare wheel is now hanging as it should.
I do have another question for the Bongo gang.
I have a full size spare hanging there now and I am a little concerned that although I checked the cable it seems a bit dodgy hanging that weight on a cable of that size with no second safety device should it decide to snap. I am wondering if it is only intended for a space saver or if there was an additional gizmo if used with a full size spare?

Mines been on it for the past 11+ years with no problem fullsize, your really don't want to be trying out a 20+ year old skinny tyre in an emergency ;-)

Same here, that cable will support far more weight than a spare wheel.

Don't over tighten it, just enough to mostly compress the springy bit.

Also if you have to use the spare, don't wind up the cable without a load on it! The wire is liable to criss-cross over itself and then jam when you need to lower it again!
