Sourcing parts on the road

Post by bennyyorkie » Sat Aug 10, 2019 7:36 pm

Hi,
I am looking into buying my first campervan and the Bongo is top of the list at the moment. One thing I'm concerned about is sourcing parts on the road. Lets say I break down in the middle of nowhere...from reading on the site, it seems parts are certainly available but whats the waiting time like, can a local garage source them or maybe I'd need to park her up for a week and get them myself?
Would love to hear of your experiences. Many thanks

Welcome aboard. :)

Depends where you plan to travel - breakdown in good old Blighty and a Bongo friendly garage will have parts, or know where to source them very quickly.

Break down in Bongo Bongo Land and who knows...

Most Mazda dealers either don't want to know or will order parts from the Land of the Rising Sun with lead times and costs they seem to invent, but, as above, it's really no problem here. 8)
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

If you purchase them from Amazon and give your coordinates the will send by Drone, then you need to fly in your mechanic, no problem.

Joking aside any car can pose a problem regarding spare parts nowadays.

I see what your saying. Main dealerships can be a rip off ever for a normal car service. I dont mind doing a bit of research myself..all part of the fun really...just thinking the worst (eg. Broke down in the alps and left sitting there for a week or more)...
