Braided fuel return pipe leak

Post by root-n-5th » Sat Aug 03, 2019 11:24 am

Hello all (again),

I’ve had the smell of diesel in my 1995 2.5td for ages now. Have never been able to trace it and the usual o-ring place is dry. When troubleshooting A glow plug problem today I found it! Searched the forum and identified the culprit.

It helped that I was pumping the primer and the fuel drips very quickly out of the braided fuel return pipe behind the pump. There isn’t a clip in the part of it that goes into the pump so the question is should there be? If I put a constant pressure clip on it will it solve the problem? It seems really hard to get to.

Cheers!

Thanks. Yes it does. I have now clipped both ends and leaking has stopped. Hoping, perhaps beyond hope, that it has fixed the starting problem too.

Cheers,
Sam
