Any recommended repairers in hereford ? (V6 petrol )

Post by johncoles » Tue Jul 23, 2019 3:13 pm

Hope this is in the right forum subject !
Looking for a mobile repairer working in hereford area to help with a non starting 2.5 v6 petrol.
Have so far replaced dist cap, coil and leads, and know that petrol and spark are there. My knowledge limited so really need someone who knows what they are doing !

I know of JAL which would take a look if towed in but hoping someone out there can get to us to at least diagnose.

Thanks :)

Hi and welcome. 8)

Was it starting before you replaced the parts?

I would think any reputable garage should be able to help with this as it's only really the cooling system that needs a Bongo specialist, but hopefully someone local to you will have a suggestion.

Thanks Bob.
It was working fine. We had it serviced, did a run up to bongo fury then to York, then away for a week, came back and not firing, someone suggested the new parts so fitted them. It sounds like its firing very intermittently now but not starting.

Its pretty low mileage and no prev probx so at a bit of a loss. :(

Ok so i finaly got it to a mechanic who has diagnosed a cam belt fault but needs info on timing marks and any other instructions or video. Can't find anything here - there used to be a section of 'how to' which i cant find 😣
Any help or link to it much appreciated...

There's this post:

Ian has also said he will make it a Fact Sheet (Members' area).

Hope that helps.

Thanks Bob. Our mechanic finaly got the cam cover off to discover a big wadge of, would you believe, GRASS.
I know nothing of bongo design but thats a new one on me. He thinks that a cooling fan must have blown clippings in there and it has caused the belt to slip. ?

I do love our bongo but sometimes i wonder why 😉

Picked up the bongo and running fine except engine seems to be 'racing' a bit. Put that down to a slightly advanced timing but am hoping it wont cause any ongoing problems. Now have some spare ignition leads and presumably old but good distributor and coil.

Also our first mechanic fitted an ignition amplifier ? I cant find any mention of this as a part or normal spare for the bongo so wondering if anyone knows what it is !! :?

Can open a new thread if it helps.
